Blackbird Lab is a software development company. While we practice an international working culture, we are proud representatives of Ukrainian values and traditions. We are a team of 90+ energetic, curious, smart, and open-to-new-challenges tech professionals who prefer efficient async communication, flexible working hours, a co-working office model, etc.

Having worked in this field for 7+ years, we have managed to accumulate expertise and bring value to a number of clients. We cooperate with US and Canadian product companies of different sizes, from small startups to established products, in close, trusted relationships.

All team members, including management, have an engineering background. The process is always efficient when participants speak the same language and have a similar approach based on technical principles. It is much easier to make decisions and introduce new features in a team with engineering at heart. It is the technical DNA that lets us build high-quality products that make our customers’ users’ lives easier.

Position & client

Our client is a US-based fintech startup that builds account-activation infrastructure for banks and business banking platforms. InstaSwitch moves income, payroll, spending, vendors, and clients to a newly opened business account so it becomes the primary relationship. This project is a TypeScript Chrome extension that automates third-party websites on behalf of the user. The Rails-based app provides a REST API that the extension uses to fetch switch-automation steps and report progress.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an engineer to write and maintain JSON-based automation scripts using a proprietary framework.

Requirements

• 1+ years of commercial experience in frontend, QA automation, or browser automation

• Practical knowledge of HTML/CSS/DOM: CSS selectors, XPath, visibility, etc.

• Hands-on experience with automation tools (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Chrome DevTools, or equivalent)

• Experience writing structured, declarative artifacts (JSON, YAML, step scripts, etc.)

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude), with the ability to validate and adapt AI-generated code

• English - pre-intermediate
